The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FoIA) is intended to promote a culture of openness and accountability amongst public sector bodies by providing people with rights of access to the information held by them.
It is expected that these rights will facilitate better public understanding of how public authorities carry out their duties, why they make the decisions they do and how they spend public money.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service is continually supplying information to the public as part of its ongoing day to day business, and this web site is one of the ways we do this. The FoIA provides us with an opportunity to review our records management processes and to ensure that good practice is demonstrated.
Policy Statement
Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) will demonstrate and deliver, by words and action, commitment to openness and accountability and to servicing the public's general right of access to information held by KFRS.

Publication Scheme
The FoIA places a general duty on public authorities to adopt and maintain publication schemes which identify information which are routinely made available to anyone who consults them. A publication scheme is both a public commitment to make certain information available and a guide to how that information can be obtained.
The latest version of the Kent Fire and Rescue Service's Publication Scheme was approved by the Information Commissioner on 18 July 2006. If you would like to view our Publication Scheme, please click the link on the right.
You can get a printed version of our Publication Scheme by e-mailing through the 'contact us' page or telephoning our Media and Communications Team at Kent Fire and Rescue Service Headquarters on 01622 692121.
