At Kent Fire and Rescue Service we are proud of our achievements but our role in protecting the communities of Kent demands commitment to constantly improving our services. To do this we need to understand the needs of ALL of our residents as well as our staff and strive to meet those needs. Members and officers of Kent Fire and Rescue Service are committed to promoting equality, valuing diversity and combating unfair treatment.

We have previously published our Race, Disability and Gender Schemes (2006-2009). This is our first comprehensive Equality & Diversity Scheme which brings together all our schemes and sets out our current position and future intentions to improve our performance on equality and diversity. We are keen to engage the public and staff in prioritising and planning our services to respond better to the needs of all the people in Kent. Our Equality & Diversity Scheme will continue to evolve over the next three years and ensure that the principles of equality, dignity and respect are integrated into everything we do.
