Join our team and take up the opportunities
There are a number of specialist teams at Kent Fire & Rescue and firefighters have the opportunity to train in these specialist areas.
Promotion is open to all firefighters and so if you have what it takes and want the responsibility you can go all the way to the top.
There are also opportunities to join the Service at various levels and, when those vacancies arise, they are advertised.
Training and development are important to the Service. Ability and a willingness to learn will always be supported.
Specialist teams
Animal rescue unit - It is no simple matter trying to rescue a horse from a muddy ditch, without injuring the rescuers or the horse. Trained firefighters use specialised equipment to rescue animals.
Line rescue - A car off the road and down a steep bank, a child stuck down a deep hole... there are a number of situations which could require line rescue. A specially trained team of firefighters are on hand to help at these incidents.
Offshore rescue - With many miles of coastline Kent Fire and Rescue Service must be prepared for incidents out at sea. Firefighters based at coastal stations maintain their ability to deal with all sort of incidents offshore.
