Mr Pirthipal Kang
Recruiting people from all sections of the community
Kent Fire and Rescue Service is keen to encourage men and women from all backgrounds to consider a career with us. Our Principal Community Liaison Officer, Mr Pirthipal Kang works hard talking to different sections of the community in Kent and is always pleased to talk people about career opportunities.
Many people never consider a career as a firefighter because they think it is too physical, dangerous or dirty. But the modern firefighter does so much more than just fight fires – they have to be skilled communicators, business advisers and safety experts. And, of course, there are many other career opportunities in the Fire Service, other than firefighting – you could be a control operator handling our 999 calls, or join our team of professional staff providing personnel, IT, finance or communications expertise for the organisation.
The Fire Service is making great efforts to talk to a wide range of people about career opportunities. We want people to know how varied and rewarding the work is, and that promotional opportunities are open to all. We can offer a structured career path, training for qualifications with national recognition, a whole range of specialist fields to build expertise, along with job security and job satisfaction
We are serious about encouraging people from all sections of the community to join our team. Mr Kang and colleagues visit job centres, religious communities, local festivals, schools and youth events to spread the word about career opportunities within Kent Fire and Rescue Service. If you are thinking about career opportunities but are unsure about what to expect from a career with Kent Fire and Rescue Service you can contact Mr Pirthipal Kang for an informal chat. He will be able to give you general information, and talk to you about working for the Fire Service and what it involves. He will also be able to provide details about the selection process, training and promotional opportunities.
You can contact Mr Kang on 01474 537845, or at: Kent Fire and Rescue Service, Training Centre, Loose Road, Maidstone, Kent ME15 9QB
