There are many interesting career opportunities with Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) both in operations and business support.
All of our operational roles are extremely specialist and demand a vast amount of training and experience that can only be gained through employment and as such Kent Fire and Rescue Services is unable to offer work experience in a firefighting environment.

KFRS supports and understands the importance of work experience and the contribution this can make to a young persons personal and career development, we are working closely with schools and placement providers within the Kent so that we can continue to provide appropriate activities.  So that students get the best out of their placements, we are only offering pre-planned opportunities for individuals aged 16 to19 via their school, college or partnership organisation. Participation in some activities may involve selection tests and interviews. We will no longer accept ad-hoc or individual requests.
KFRS is working with partnership organisations to expand its current work placement programme to include:
  • Career taster days – organised visits to KFRS for schools and groups
  • KFRS staff attending career days at schools and colleges
  • Mentoring students in schools on work based projects
  • Work simulation – experiential learning, practical activities
  • Pre-planned work experience within a business support role, for example Finance, Human Resources, Administration and Information Systems.
