House fire in Willesborough
An investigation will be carried out this morning into the cause of a blaze which damaged two homes at a construction site in Willesborough near Ashford.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service received reports that a blaze had broken out in a three storey town house in Milne Road at 9.12pm. Six appliances, a height vehicle and almost 40 firefighters were sent to the scene.
Station Manager Lee Rose, who led the KFRS response, said: “It was a set of five terraced homes which had been built but were not completed internally. The fire had spread to another of the homes but we managed to stop if affecting the rest of the row. The fire was under control by midnight but two crews are still at the scene this morning damping down.”
Two appliances came from Ashford along with crews from Wye, Aldington, Folkestone and Charing plus a height vehicle from Maidstone.
Initial reports suggested people may have been inside the building but KFRS is awaiting a structural investigation before a complete search of the building is carried out.
Fire investigators will join police officers this morning in establishing the cause of the blaze but at this stage it is being treated as deliberate.
