Fire in Margate flats

Around 70 firefighters are tackling a blaze in a block of flats in Margate.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to Hawley Square in the town at 00.43am after reports of a fire on the third and fourth floor of the four storey building.

Ten appliances and two height vehicles have been sent to the scene and have managed to contain the fire which has spread to an adjacent property. An unknown number of people have been reported in the building but KFRS is unable to confirm at this stage whether anyone has been trapped or hurt.
