Clean up for charity
Dartford firefighters will be washing cars on Saturday 4 July to raise much needed funds for the Harley Slack Fund, following three-year-old Harley’s fight against meningitis B.
Green watch crew will be poised, complete with buckets and sponges at Dartford Fire Station in Watling Street from 10am until 3pm. The event gives drivers across the area the chance to brush up on their knowledge of home fire safety, whilst their cars receive a gleaming polish from local firefighters.
It's an ideal opportunity for Dartford residents to treat their cars to a wash, whilst learning more about the potential dangers of fire in the home.
Crews will be collecting charitable donations upon exit, with all funds going to the Harley Slack Fund.
Green Watch Manager Graeme Walkling explains why they are holding the event: “Station staff felt deeply touched after hearing of Harley’s story and decided they would like to do something to help raise £100,000 towards the prosthetic limbs that Harley needs following his illness.”
“By stopping at the Fire Station to have your car washed this Saturday, you will not only help raise greatly needed funds, but also be educating your family about fire safety!”
