Evaluate the Risks
Having identified the fire hazards and people who may be at risk in your workplace, you now need to assess the effect of each hazard on the people in your workplace, taking into account any existing control measures Once this is done you must decide if any further control measures are required to reduce risk to an acceptable level.
Adding further measures to your workplace can reduce the possibility of ignition, reduce the amount of fuel available to feed a fire, or aid the escape of people from your workplace in the event of fire.
You may be able to reduce the risks by:
- improved fire safety management systems
- improved and clearly signed escape routes
- staff training
- installing fire warning systems
- providing means of fighting fire
