Under the Local Government Act 1999 Local Authorities are required to continually improve the way in which they deliver their services, with regard to economy, efficiency and effectiveness.
Each year Kent & Medway Fire & Rescue Authority (KMFRA) publishes its plans for the coming year, detailing what the Authority plans to do to help deliver improved services to the public. It sets these out in a document called the Service Performance Plan (SPP). The plan also includes details of our performance for the previous year against national and local targets and performance indicators, along with targets for the coming three years.
On 29 June 2007 KMFRA published its Service Performance Plan for 2007/08|. To download the plan please click on the link at the bottom of the page; plans for previous years can be found in the SPP archive to the right of this page. If you would like a printed version of this plan or a copy in a different format, please telephone our Media and Communications Team at our Headquarters on 01622 692 121, or contact us via e-mail|. Copies will also be avaliable in fire stations and fire safety offices shortly.
Monitoring our performance
The Authority is required by the government to set targets for, and report on, a suite of almost 40 Best Value Performance Indicators (BVPIs). These measure each individual Fire Authority’s progress in improving its own performance, and provide a common set of data for comparison between Fire and Rescue Authorities nationally. As well as the BVPIs, the Service also has a number of local performance indicators which it monitors for management purposes. The Authority’s progress against all the indicators can be seen by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page. The report covers the period of April 2007and September 2007.
