The Civil Contingencies Act 2004 (CCA) places certain duties on all Category 1 responders as defined in the Act, of which the Kent and Medway Fire and Rescue Authority is one.

One of these duties is the formation of the Kent Local Resilience Forum. The purpose of this forum is to ensure that there is an appropriate level of preparedness to enable an effective multi-agency response to emergencies which may have a significant impact on the communities of Kent.

Another of these duties is the joint publication of a Community Risk Register (CRR) for Kent.
The CRR| is a community based register of multi agency risk assessments these are the first steps in the emergency planning and business continuity planning process as laid down by the HM Government statutory guidance document, Emergency Preparedness|, which underpins the CCA.
