What services does Kent and Medway Fire and Rescue Authority get from other Authorities?
Kent and Medway Fire and Rescue Authority buys a small number of services in from other organisations. In the case of its payroll, this is currently outsourced to the private sector.
As part of the agreement [called the Combination Scheme Order], the Authority is also able to buy services from Kent County Council. The services it currently buys from Kent County Council are:
• Legal advice
• Pensions administration
• Treasury management
• Vehicle maintenance at Kent County Workshops for our fleet of fire engines
• Internal audit
• Insurance claims handling
The Authority also uses a number of contracts Kent County Council has let, where KCC has made the contract available to other authorities to use. Currently these are for information technology services and buying gas, electricity and diesel.
