Thermal imaging camera (TIC)

Firefighters can use a thermal imaging camera (TIC) to identify and assess 'hot spots' at an incident.

This helps with risk assessment and deployment, so that incident commanders can make sure the most efficient and effective firefighting methods are used to tackle a fire.

TICs are also used during the 'damping down' phase of a fire, helping to prevent fires reigniting where deep-seated fires may have historically been missed.
