Area Manager South Division

Martin Adams has been Kent Fire and Rescue Service's Area Manager for South Division since April 2009. His responsibilities include overseeing operations, community safety and divisional performance of more than 500 staff and 26 stations (20 retained, six day-crewed and wholetime stations).

Martin joined the service in 1986, serving at Maidstone, Dover, Thameside and Dartford, as well at North Division and South Division headquarters.

His career history includes working for the Metropolitan Police at New Scotland Yard for two years in a service support role.

Martin was watch manager at Maidstone when a major blaze broke out at Tesco in Grove Green in 1993 and he was involved in gold command during the Channel Tunnel fire of 2008. Martin received the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in 2006 for over 20 years' dedication to the fire service.
