Performance Assessment
Introduction to Performance Assessment
Each year Kent and Medway Fire and Rescue
Authority (KMFRA) is assessed on how it delivers services to the
community. This year the way we are assessed has changed.
In the past local authorities (including fire)
were assessed individually under a system called Comprehensive
Performance Assessment (CPA). From April 2009 this was replaced
with Comprehensive Area Assessment which looks at how well partners
work together to deliver Local Area Agreements (LAAs). LAAs are
agreements between central government and local partners to improve
the area. KMFRA is part of two LAAs, one for Kent and one for
Medway.
KMFRA is also scored on how well it has
improved during the year, how it continues to improve and how it
manages and used its resources. The Authority is currently
undergoing an assessment on how well it delivers its emergency
services through an Operational Assessment. Find out more about the Operational Assessment and
read our Self Review.
How the Authority is performing
On 9 December 2009 the Audit Commission
published the outcomes of its latest assessment which show the
Authority is performing well, has strong leadership and is managing
its resources effectively.
Data which supports the Audit Commission’s
assessment can be viewed at www.direct.gov.uk/oneplace
