What we do
Emergency response
As well as fighting fires in homes and
commercial properties, Kent Fire and Rescue Service has for many
years been involved in dealing with road crashes and other types of
specialist rescues.
Dealing with major emergencies
We also have a duty to prepare for and respond to major
emergencies at local, national and international level -
including: flooding, chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear
incidents; earthquakes; building collapses; explosions; chemical
spillages; and the aftermath of terrorism.
Community safety
The community safety team works with local
people across our different communities to help keep them safe
- at home, on the roads and at work. They do this through
face-to-face contact at home, work or school and through
safety campaigns and publicity.
Business support
To help business owners, we have a dedicated team of
fire safety officers working from four offices across Kent and
Medway. They can advise on the legal requirements and
responsibilities that affect premises, as well as inspecting and
enforcing those rules if necessary.
