The Civil Contingencies Act 2004
The Civil
Contingencies Act 2004 (CCA) places
certain duties on all Category 1 responders as defined by the Act,
including Kent Fire and Rescue Service
One of these duties is the formation of the Kent Resilience
Forum. The purpose of this forum is to ensure that there is
an appropriate level of preparedness to enable an effective multi
agency response to emergencies which may have a significant impact
on the communities Kent Fire and Rescue Service serve.
The act requires Category 1 responders to maintain the plans for
preventing emergencies; reducing, controlling or mitigating the
effects of emergencies; and taking other action in the event of
emergencies. These should draw from risk assessments and
should have regard for the arrangements to warn, inform and advise
the public at the time of an emergency.
Another of these duties is the joint undertaking of risk
assessments and the publication of the Community Risk Register for
Kent.
