Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a flatbed truck alight on the A2, near Harbledown, Canterbury. 


Five fire engines attended the coast-bound carriageway, as well as a bulk water carrier, and crews used main jets and hose reel jets to extinguish the flames, which had spread to a number of wooden pallets being transported by the vehicle and the grass verge. 


No injuries were reported and the cause is believed to be accidental. 


The road was closed while firefighters dealt with the incident but has since reopened.
