Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a car fire on the M25 between junctions 2 and 3 near Dartford.
Two fire engines attended, and crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose-reel jet to extinguish the fire.
There are no reported injuries and the cause is believed to be accidental.
