Firefighting operations are now complete at the scene of a barn fire in Pilgrims Way in Lenham, Maidstone. 

No injuries have been reported, and the cause is not yet known. 

Update at 11.45am on 15 July: 

People living, working or travelling near Pilgrims Way in Lenham, Maidstone, are no longer being advised to close windows and doors.

Three fire engines and a bulk water carrier remain in attendance, and crews are continuing to monitor the incident.

Initial update:

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a barn fire in Pilgrims Way, in Lenham, Maidstone. 

At the height of the fire, control operators sent seven fire engines and a bulk water carrier to the incident, and crews wearing breathing apparatus have used hose reel jets and compressed air foam to bring the fire under control. 

Four fire engines and a bulk water carrier remain in attendance, where crews are maintaining a watching brief while the fire burns itself out, which is a common firefighting tactic for these types of agricultural incidents. 

Due to smoke coming from the incident, people living or travelling near the area are advised to keep windows and doors closed.
