Update: The cause of the fire is unknown but is believed to be accidental.

Update 2.30pm:

Earlier advice to avoid the Hampstead Lane marina area in Yalding near Maidstone has been lifted, although the River Medway remains closed to traffic.

Two people have been treated by South East Coast Ambulance Service paramedics, for burns and the effects of breathing in smoke, respectively, and taken to hospital.

The River Medway has been closed to all traffic between Teston Lock and Hampstead Lock.

Firefighters are dealing with a number of boats alight at a marina in Hampstead Lane, Yalding, near Maidstone.

Three fire engines with their crews and a water safety unit are at the scene.

There is heavy smoke in the area, so people are being requested to stay clear while emergency services deal with the incident.
