Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a car fire on the north bound carriageway of the A249 near Detling.
Two fire engines attended and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames, which had spread to nearby trees and vegetation on the roadside.
There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
