A house fire in Minster on Sea, Sheerness, is believed to have started accidentally after an e-bike was left on charge unattended and caught alight.

Two fire engines were sent to the home in Minster Road, where crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets and fog spikes to extinguish the flames.

It’s thought the fire started in the garage area of the property, where the e-bike was on charge, and spread to the house.

Two people inhaled a small amount of smoke during the incident, but no other injuries were reported.

Any chargeable items, including e-cigarettes, e-scooters or e-bikes, should be stored, used and charged as described in the manufacturer's instructions.

Remember to make sure they are charged when someone is home and awake, and unplugged when finished.
