Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a fire at a house in Margate Road, Ramsgate.

Two fire engines attended, and crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished a fire involving a lithium-ion battery.

One person was passed into the care of paramedics for precautionary checks.

It’s believed the fire started accidentally when the battery caught alight while on charge.

Following the incident, crews are reminding people to charge, store, and use batteries and battery-powered items safely and to follow manufacturers’ guidance.

And remember to always buy electrical goods from reputable suppliers.
