Crews tackle a large fire involving two houses in Tonbridge
09:00 Update - Seven people, including 1 child were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene of the fire, four were taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution and three were advised to visit the hospital as a precaution. There were no life-threatening injuries. Both properties suffered severe fire damage to the rear and roof, both also suffered extensive smoke damage throughout.
A fire investigation into the blaze will be carried out later.
05:00 Update - Crews are making good progress in tackling the fire which has involved two properties on St Mary's Road. The firefighting has been reduced to four fire engines and a height vehicle. The height vehicle is being used to remove tiles from roof to support ventilation of smoke from the property. The cause of the fire will be investigated in the morning.
04:15 Update - Kent Fire and Rescue Service is currently at the scene of a fire involving a three storey property in St Mary's Road in Tonbridge. The fire was reported as a shed fire initially that had spread to the kitchen before quickly spreading to the second floor and roof. Crews arrived to find a well developed fire. four people including a child under the age of 10, a female adult and two male adults were outside the property all suffering from smoke inhalation. They were treated by crews and handed to paramedics. Wearing breathing apparatus the crews tackled the fire with hose reel jets and main jets. Six fire engines and a height vehicle have been sent to the scene. The cause of the fire will be investigated.
