Serious road crash - Sittingbourne Road, Maidstone
Kent Fire and Rescue Service responded to a collision on the A249 Sittingbourne Road, Penenden Heath, shortly after midnight (Saturday, 2 December). Fire crews administered first aid to two casualties until the arrival of South East Coast Ambulance Service and Helicopter Emergency Service (HEMS).

Officers are investigating a serious collision in Maidstone are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Kent Police was called just after midnight on Saturday 2 December 2017 to a report of a collision on the A249 Sittingbourne Road. A blue Peugeot convertible car was travelling towards the M20 when it left the road near to the junction with Sport Field and collided with a tree.
A woman in her 20s suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a London hospital where her condition remains serious.
A second woman sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment. The 25-year-old woman from the Sevenoaks area was arrested in connection to the collision and currently remains in custody.
Police from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and the road was closed until around 7.20am.
Officers would like to speak to a man who was reported to also be in the vehicle before the collision and ask that he come forward urgently as he may have information which could assist the investigation.
