Dog rescued from house fire in Smarden
UPDATE: 1pm Pluckley Road, Smarden is currently closed due to a house fire.
Firefighters were called to a fire in the roof of a two-storey house in Pluckley Road, Smarden. Crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and rescued a dog. All occupants were out to the property and there are no reported injuries. Four fire engines, a water unit and a height vehicle are at the scene and firefighters are tackling the blaze using a fog spike to spray water into voids in the roof to bring the fire under control, as well as main jets and hose reels. The fire involves the roof, first floor and part of the ground floor of the property. Crews have also carried out salvage work to save some of the contents of the house. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
