Incident details
UPDATE 9.1.2018 - 9am
Firefighters remained at the scene of a roof fire in a church hall in High Street, Rusthall until 10.25pm. Crews have praised the group who were using the hall at the time for their prompt action in reporting the fire quickly, giving full details about where and how the fire had started and providing immediate access to fire crews.
Firefighters extinguished the fire by 9.20pm and successfully managed to limit the fire damage to 20 per cent of the roof. All appliances had left the scene by 10.30pm and crews revisited the property at 12.30am and 7.30am.
KFRS crews have been called to a fire in a property in High Street, Rusthall.  The fire is in the roof void of a Church Hall. Crews have been tackling the fire using ladders on the three storey pitched roof and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have also been fighting the fire internally from the loft hatch. Fogspikes which use a fine mist to help prevent fire spread have also been used along with hose reel jets.
Station Manager, Lee Abel who was the incident commander at the scene said “This was a challenging fire in a roof void and the crews have done a good job to bring it under control and prevent the fire spreading further into the building.”
The call came in at 6.46pm and we have five appliances in attendance.
