Kent Fire and Rescue Service attended a serious house fire at 6.34pm in Rectory Road, Broadstairs. At the height of the fire around 25 firefighters and five engines were at the scene.
Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus battled hard to fight the blaze internally and externally using multiple main jets, hose reels, fog spikes and thermal imaging cameras.
Kent Police also attended to assist, closing the road while fire crews tackled the blaze.
Sadly, a woman in her 50s was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed by Kent Police and a fire investigation is taking place.
