Update on Gillingham house fire

UPDATE: 10.30am 
Firefighters are making good progress at a terraced house fire in West Street, Gillingham. Crews worked quickly to contain the fire and prevent it spreading through the roof void to adjacent properties. A height vehicle was also used as a water tower to extinguish the blaze from the outside of the building. The fire, which is being treated as accidental, is believed to have started in a ground floor extension and spread to the roof and first floor of the property. Three fire engines and a height vehicle remain on the scene, but attendance will be scaled down shortly. The house and roof of one house is severely damaged by fire and some smoke spread to an adjacent house. All occupants were accounted for and a being supported by the British Red Cross support unit. Unfortunately, two dogs dies in the fire. 
 
UPDATE: 9.25 
Firefighters are dealing with a fire involving a row of terraced houses in West Street, Gillingham. Five fire engines are on the scene and crews are dealing with the blaze which has spread into the roof voids of the properties. All occupants have been accounted for. Unfortunately two dogs have died in the fire. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
