Kent Fire and Rescue Service attends a range of incidents including fires, road crashes, flooding, rescues from height, mud or confined spaces. It also supports other agencies including Kent Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Martime and Coastguard Agency on a regular basis.

Standing corn alight near Canterbury
Incident details
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a large field fire involving standing corn in Upstreet near Sarre. Five fire engines were sent to the fire and crews worked hard to contain the fire in very hot conditions. They managed to surround the fire and extinguished the fire using hose reel jets and flexi packs and beaters. Around 8 hectares of standing corn (the equivalent of ten full size football pitches) was destroyed by the blaze. There were no reported injuries.
