London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games

The London 2012 Olympics and Paralympic Games span from 27 July to 9 September with 205 nations, 26 sports, 364 days of sport compressed into a 16 day period.

Kent’s role as the “Gateway to Europe” ensures it will play a major part with the county’s roads and rail infrastructure bearing a major responsibility for transporting people to the various Olympic sites.

The county will be hosting six days of cycling events during the 2012 Paralympic Games between the 3 and 8 September 2012. It is also anticipated that Kent and Medway will accommodate a large number of those attending the games.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service aims to ensure that:

  • We are prepared for the impact the London 2012 Olympic Games will have on the organisation and our services to the public.
  • With local, regional and national partners, we will deliver a safe, secure and enjoyable Olympic Games.
