Kent regulators have taken a major step forward in their Better Business for All initiative, with the launch of their new website – www.bbfa.biz.
The website is a portal for anyone running or starting up a business, with useful information on how to comply with legislation and who to contact for advice.
The Better Business for All partnership includes Kent Fire and Rescue Service, Kent Trading Standards, HSE, Food Safety and other local authority regulators, working alongside the South East Local Enterprise Partnership (SELEP), the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), Kent Invicta Chambers of Commerce (KICoC) and Produced In Kent (PinK).
Alison Trainor, from Medway Council, has developed the site for both business users and regulators to be able to get information, and interact with each other. She said: "More and more, we need to let business owners know that we are there to help – our main focus is to help keep businesses safe and profitable, rather than demanding ‘gold plated’ solutions to simple problems. By contacting your local officers, you will get up to date, assured advice, free of charge."
The website was officially launched at an event hosted by Kent Fire and Rescue Service's Chief Executive Ann Millington.
The aim is to support local businesses to achieve compliance with regulatory standards, and enable them to grow while at the same time ensuring public safety.
Tudor Price, from KICoC said: "It is only by working together that business and regulators can help the local economy move forward and free up time for the regulators to deal with ‘rogue traders’, who do damage to legitimate businesses, and put the public at risk".
Jill Sargent, from PinK added: "Produced in Kent is pleased to be working alongside an energetic team of regulators, committed to supporting Better Business for All – the partnership is a real positive step forward and the launch of the website is only the start!"
