After Kent Fire and Rescue Service has done all it can at a fire, crews vary rarely expect to see the people involved again, let alone show up at their wedding.
But this is exactly what happened after Ashford fire crews were called out to a fire in an electrical cupboard in a pub on The Street, East Brabrourne, last night (15 July).
Crews were faced with more than just smoke issuing from the building and when they went inside wearing breathing apparatus to tackle the fire, they discovered a collection of wedding suits in the upstairs bedroom.
These belonged to a groom and his groomsmen, who were staying at the pub on the eve of his wedding.
Thanks to the crews quick thinking and initiative the suits were fortunately salvaged while they tackled the fire. If the fire had been discovered much later it is unlikely that the wedding party have been able to wear their suits for the special day today (16 July).
Crews took the opportunity to surprise the newlyweds, Anna and Will, and as they exited the church they found a fire engine and crew ready to help them celebrate their new lives together as husband and wife.
