Fire crews to run emergency drill at Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems, Broadstairs

24 October 2016

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) will be holding a practical exercise to test their procedures for dealing with an emergency incident at Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems in Broadstairs on Saturday (29 October).

The scenario will be a simulated industrial accident in the site in Pysons Road and will involve two fire engines and up to ten firefighters.

The exercise will provide the opportunity for Fujifilm personnel to work closely with KFRS to test their emergency plans for dealing with such an emergency.

Ramsgate crew manager Carl Waldron said: “KFRS and Fujifilm staff would like to reassure the public that there is no cause for concern and to be aware that although there will be some activity at the site on the day, that this is only an exercise.”

Richard Heffernan, Principal Health and Safety Advisor at Fujifilm, said: “We operate best practice across our factory and dealing with an emergency is no different.

“This exercise gives us the chance to be prepared for every eventuality to ensure the safety of our staff and general public.”
