KFRS signs Armed Forces Covenant

10 April 2018

Kent Fire and Rescue Service has pledged to support the armed forces community by signing the Armed Forces Covenant.

Through this, the organisation has earned the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) bronze award, which means it’s an armed forces friendly workplace, backing the needs of staff who are ex-military, part of the reservists, or their immediate family.

KFRS already has armed forces champions among its workforce, who are specially trained to understand the culture of the armed forces community, know how service in the armed forces can impact on individuals and families, and use this knowledge to design services.

Chief Executive Ann Millington said: “We are absolutely committed to supporting ex-military personnel and reservists at KFRS, and that’s why we really wanted to sign the Armed Forces Covenant and achieve the ERS bronze award. We’re looking to expand our armed forces champion programme within the organisation, and this will all go towards our ambitions to reach the silver standard.”
