Woman rescued from Folkestone fire

Crews were called to a fire in Westbourne Gardens, Folkestone, in the early hours of the morning. The property on three floors was split into nine flats. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a woman from the second floor using a ten metre ladder. She, along with three other residents, are being treated for smoke inhalation.
Firefighters searched all rooms in the property to ensure that no one else was trapped. They used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the smoke. The fire was brought under control quickly and there is fire damage on the ground floor and other floors have suffered smoke damage.
Rupert Roberts , Group Manager at Kent Fire and Rescue said “Praise goes to the crews who did an excellent job in rescuing the casualty from the second floor and searching this large property to ensure no one else was trapped. They prevented the fire spreading through the building and got it under control quickly.”
