Firefighters in breathing apparatus used a hose reel to tackle a fire in the basement of a building of four floors. A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear smoke and fumes from the property.
Everyone was accounted for and there were no casualties. Two families who lived in flats above had safely evacuated the building before fire crews arrived. There was no damage to the upper floors.

The kitchen suffered a small amount of heat, smoke and water damage, a toaster and its contents were destroyed by the fire.

Details
A female driver and her male passenger were cut out of a car this morning following a crash. Fire crews removed the roof of the vehicle to gain access to the pair, thought to be in their late 20’s, who were removed by spinal longboard and handed into the care of the ambulance service.

Tunbridge Wells loft fire

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels and a hydrant to tackle a fire in a loft space. By 1am crews were cutting away and carrying out salvage work before removing roof shingles to check for hot spots. 20 per cent of the roof space was damaged by the blaze.
The fire is believed to have started in electrical cables in the loft space and spread to cedar wood roofing shingles.
A Red Cross Victim Support Unit was sent to the scene to assist the occupants, a couple thought to be in their late 70's.

Fire crews located the fire behind a cast iron Victorian fire place surround in the sitting room. They removed the fire surround and used a hose, rods and flexpack to tackle the blaze which had spread to the chimney. A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hot spots.
