Carers: Could you help save a life?

Members of carer support group, Carers First, attended a recent advice session held at Thames-side fire station to find out more the free services available from Kent Fire and Rescue Service and to make them aware of some of the risks to look out for.

Clare Bateman, carer support and assessment co-ordinator at Carers First said: "The day was about carer awareness and helping keep people safe in their homes. It also about taking people out of their situation and giving them some respite in a fun and informative way."

Thames-side watch manager, Dave Mayhew, said: "We need people to be our eyes and ears in the community, and awareness sessions like these are about highlighting some of the risks and explaining how carers can to help keep the people they care for safe from fire. It is a out about the wide range of free services we can provide, there's lots we can do to help those people who are most at risk."
