What is a safe and well visit?
Kent Fire and Rescue Service provides free safe and well visits to help residents who are most vulnerable to the risk of fire stay safe and independent in their own homes.
One of our friendly home safety officers can visit your home at a time convenient for you. A typical free visit takes around 45 minutes and includes the fitting of free smoke alarms where necessary, as well as vital advice to help you stay safe and well.
We will highlight any risks from fire in your home, give fire prevention tips, advice on night-time routines and help you plan your escape route in the event of a fire.
We can also provide specialist equipment (e.g. fire proof blankets, deaf alarms etc.) and advice where needed.

Who is eligible?
You will be offered a free safe and well visit if you or the person needing a visit meets more than one of the following:
anyone in the home is 70 or over
anyone in the home is 5 or under
anyone smokes in or around the home
anyone has a disability including mental health or dementia
anyone has any other reason to feel unsafe at home
you are referred by a partner agency.
