The responsible person
For the purposes of fire safety, a responsible person is
any person who has some control over the premises.
For example:
- the employer
- site manager
- owner
- managing agents
What does it mean to you?
The responsible person has:
- a duty to maintain fire precautions by taking reasonable steps
to reduce the risk from fire and therefore comply with the
Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
- responsibility to ensure a fire
risk assessment is carried out.
