Sight, hearing and mobility

If you or a member of your household has any difficulty seeing, hearing or moving about the home, you will need to take extra care to allow for the risk of a fire.

We can assess how safe your home is for you, and help to fit fire safety equipment such as smoke alarms.
Your local Citizens’ Advice Bureau will be able to put you in touch with local voluntary groups that can offer support. You could also ask friends or family members for help.
You should plan how to escape if there is a fire in your home.
If you live in sheltered accommodation or a residential home, ask your landlord or warden to explain the safety plans for the premises and make sure you know your safest exit route, or ask your carer to contact our Vulnerable People team.
