Kent Fire and Rescue Service – there when you need us
For just over £1.45 a week (for a Band D property) Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) provides you and your family with a round-the-clock, 365 days a year emergency service.
We not only fight fires, we deal with a huge range of other emergencies from road crashes, floods and explosions to chemical spillages. We also work hard to help you stay safe at home on the road and in your business or place of work.
Where do we get the money from to fund the service?
The Authority seeks to manage its resources to deliver an efficient and effective service to the people of Kent and Medway. Savings are made wherever possible to do so, and these have been in areas such as supporting new ways of working at stations and spending less on some non-pay areas of the budget.

Where your money goes?
Employee and pension-related costs account for 80% of the Authority’s revenue budget and savings continue to be made from the changes being implemented to ways of working to ensure that services are delivered in the most efficient and effective manner.
There has also been significant investment in new buildings and operational equipment to improve service delivery and enable improved outcomes. The Capital programme reflects the building of a new fire station at Ramsgate, which is expected to be completed at the end of this year alongside planned investments in a number of fire stations. An ongoing vehicle replacement programme ensures our vehicles and equipment are regularly reviewed to ensure they continue to be fit for purpose.
