Question
I have a fire certificate issued under the Fire Precautions Act 1971; will you come and inspect my premises under that?
Answer
No. The 1971 Act no longer exists and all fire certificates are obsolete. Our inspection strategy now ensures that we inspect premises that are deemed the highest risk; therefore routine inspections are no longer conducted.  However, if you suffer a fire or we receive a fire safety complaint, we will inspect as a matter of urgency. Under the Fire Safety Order you are now required to carry out a fire risk assessment.
