You will be asked to sign a medical indemnity agreement before undertaking the physical role related tests. This will be confirmed to you in writing.
If you are recommended to go through to the next stage of selection after the role related tests and interview, you will be required have a full medical. You will be asked to complete a full pre-employment health screening questionnaire and attend a full medical. This will be undertaken by the fire and rescue service medical adviser. The purpose of the medical is to assess the general level of health, including weight, blood pressure and lung function. Candidates will also have a hearing test, eyesight test and a urine test.
A report may also be required from a hospital where you have received treatment or an independent specialist if the service medical adviser requires it.
