House fire spreads to roof - Gravesend
Firefighting operations were completed at 2003hrs.
KFRS was called to reports of black smoke issuing from a property in Norfolk Road, Gravesend. Upon arrival, crews found an occupant of the property outside, suffering the effects of breathing in smoke and provided oxygen therapy. Another occupant was also given oxygen, before both were transported to hospital by ambulance. A dog was also led to safety and is being cared for by a neighbour.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were deployed to extinguish the flames issuing from both storeys of the property and spreading to the roof, using two main jets and two high-pressure hose reel jets from a hydrant supply, along with a cold-cut firefighting system designed to reduce the temperature inside a room without firefighters having to go inside.
A height vehicle has been deployed to expose the fire in the roof and firefighting operations continue.
