Incident
Large amount of pallets on fire in Smarden
Incident details
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a fire involving a large amount of stacked pallets in a storage yard just off Smarden Bell Road between Smarden and Pluckley. KFRS sent four fire engines and a bulk water carrier to the scene, and fire fighters worked hard to tackle the fire and contain it. Together with the support of staff at the site a fire break was created using a forklift truck. Crews used compressed air foam system to tackle the blaze. There were no injuries and the cause isn't known at this stage.
