Rubbish fire prompts smoke warning
Incident details
Firefighters are advising residents living close to Swale Way, Sittingbourne to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution, due to smoke coming from a fire that broke out late last night (13 May) in a large quantity of rubbish. Four fire appliances attended the scene initially, however attendance has been scaled down while the fire is allowed to safely burn out. Fire crews will be returning to access the fire this morning.
