Incident details
Firefighters were called to a fire in a property in Folkestone Road, Dover at 11.36am. A woman, child and man were led to safety by firefighters. They were treated for slight smoke inhalation at the scene. The crew tackled the fire using a hose reel jet. The cause of the fire is being investigated. The incident closed at 12.13pm.

Other calls so far (during the 24 hour strike, which began at 9am this morning), have included a number of calls about automatic fire alarms in Challock, Maidstone and Edenbridge and a call to a washing machine alight in New Ash Green.

The public are reminded to take extra care during this national firefighters strike, which ends at 9am on Wednesday 10 December.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service Director of Operations, Sean Bone-Knell said: "We are still answering and dealing with 999 calls and have crews at strategic locations across the county to provide the best cover possible. However we are not operating at our normal level of service so we need everyone to take extra care. If we all take a few minutes to do a few safety checks we really can help reduce unnecessary calls and prevent fires in homes and businesses.”

* Most home fires start in the kitchen - for example, when someone is distracted or falls asleep, leaving a pan on the hob. Please take extra care

* Before you go to bed check around your home that everything is turned off

* Many KFRS calls are to rescue people from road crashes please take extra care on the road

* Businesses please also review your risk plans and make extra checks during the strike
