Wingham firefighters are hosting an open day for all the family on 17 August.
The free event, from 10am until 3pm, is taking place at the station on Staple Road and will feature demonstrations and displays aimed at helping people stay safe this summer.
Road safety remains a priority and crews will be showing how important it is to wear seatbelts even when a vehicle is moving at low speeds. There will also be the opportunity to look around a defective car and see if you can spot what makes a perfectly presentable vehicle dangerous.
Chip pan fire demonstrations will also be held throughout the day, highlighting the potentially devastating consequences of pouring water onto a fire involving hot oil.
Other attractions include a bouncy castle for younger visitors, and a ‘sponge a firefighter’ stall. A fire engine and an all terrain vehicle will also be at the event.
Watch Manager at Wingham, Alan Colyer, said: “We’re really looking forward to meeting as many people as possible at the open day and passing on potentially life-saving tips in a fun and relaxed environment.
"We’ll have activities going on for all ages so come along and enjoy a day out with the benefit of picking up ways to help keep your loved ones safe this summer.”
